Second Hand Car Parts: Buyer Beware

Undoubtedly, automobile manufacturing is one of the largest industries in manufacturing sector. So, they are also the cause of generating some of the largest amount of waste products. Normally 70% of the auto parts, which are irreparable, can be recycled like body panels or bumpers, front or rear ends, motors, wheels, electronics, transmission, electronics etc.

Use of second hand car part saves money for maintenance and repair of car. Cost differentiation may vary from 20 to 80 % of new auto part. Used parts are environmental friendly. So it is better to use them instead of buying a new auto parts. Used car parts can be refitted in the same models and reduce the maintenance cost of a car.

Used auto parts can be purchased either from local stores or through internet. Online stores make transactions through credit card and the used parts are delivered or shipped between 3 to 6 days. The presentation of the parts shown in online site is not absolutely similar to actual part. So identify the part with a code not with look only.

Identifying that used part with your car’s part is a must. For identification of correct part, give the seller your car’s vehicle identification number (VIN).This number gives lot of information regarding the making and year of manufacturing, engines, transmission etc.

Never forget to ask the seller about the warranty of the product. Read the terms and conditions of the warranty. If there is any proposal of extended warranty, never refuse it.

Always confirm with the seller whether the part is repaired, used or remanufactured and what is the life and average of the part.

Make sure whether the part you are buying is a duplicate or original. For identification of a duplicate part, it is necessary to see the part properly. The difference in the look of a duplicate from a new part can be identified by mismatched logos, typo and any thing out of the ordinary looking part specifies the duplication of the part.

As maintaining and keeping the car is getting expensive day by day. Utilizing the second hand car parts can reduce the maintenance cost. Never ignore that you need some caution before buying the used auto parts as per terms of your car.
